Time goes so fast and so slow in web3 it's hard to keep track sometimes. I've delayed building and launching the 7 projects I've had in mind to do for too long now. The recent release of the ENS Name Wrapper has gotten me really excited to start building. I get how important now that this new feature of the ENS protocol had to be done right and if you read much about the ENS Name Wrapper you will realize just how complex and innovative the architecture of it is.
Most of the projects I've envisioned will probably rely on the on the Name Wrapper in some way. I've begun developing a few prototypes and it's been fun to flex that creative part of me. I've always enjoyed building things. When I was a kid I used to take my dad's tools, scrap wood, and whatever else I could find and put little projects together in the garage. I'd make bird houses, ant farms, fishing poles, crab traps, and even attempted a wooden pinball machine once. I think when I got into tech the urge to build something followed.
Thankfully I've been into web technology before web3 and the blockchain existed. It's been great to see the evolution of technologies over the years. I built sites with Dreamweaver if that tells you anything. They weren't very good, but it was fun and that's where I started. Much like the tools I found in my dad's garage, there are enumerable tools that assist in building things in web3... and it's only growing.
I'm not a developer today, and I don't plan to be one tomorrow. Though I will build these projects I've had in mind one way or another. You know when you have an idea you just can't let go? You've got to do something about it? Well that's how I've been feeling ever since jumping into web3 and finding out about Ethereum, smart contracts, and of course ENS.
I'm pretty thankful I found ENS early in my web3 journey because it's inspired me to dream of what can be built with the protocol, learn a ton from others, and meet really gifted and amazing people. I've also learned a lot about community, and the fascinating aspects of decentralized technology and the Ethereum blockchain. Sometimes when you see the future you just know it. I really believe in the potential of this technology; that it can have a positive impact on the world in so many ways. We're starting to see that garden bloom, and it's very exciting.
